There are a disproportionatly high amount of Asians here at the symphony. What can be derived from this? Many things can be proposed. Is there a correllation between Asians, instrument instruction and interest, grades, occupations they apply for. Oh. I realized that because I do not know anything about someone there are only a few things I can immediately observe and derive my perception of the world from. so this is limited in its accuracy. Asians to me include, in order I think of... Chinese, Japanese, [though for a long time Japaneese was more prominant in my mind, probably because of increased exposure to Japaneese themed media- WWII, Samaurai films, maybe more. But I grew up with little exposure the Chinese culture, seperate from Japanese culture. The popular response by caucasian Children in my childhood was "the only difference is the way their eyes look... And no kid knew which

I keep thinking that things are lost between the discoverer, the learner then teacher and the relearner. The obvious way to fix this is to have everyone learn everything themselves... But this would take too much time. Currently the solutions are presented in facts to learn. The learner can not understand why the rules are the way they are then to improve them. But they don't need to, in general, efficiant systems are discovered, and people are hired to follow the policies deemed best at the time of implementation. Action produces results. Improvement without action leaves you with a well set up company with few results. A company that takes action, even if it is not efficiantly run, will obviously do better than a company that is well set up and constatly has everyone improving it but few resources to taking action. So take action until a significant improvement is proposed that will
accomplish the objectives by... The 30% or so because it is not efficiant to relearn and reorganize

I get enjoyment out of understanding, learning, and being able to ask questions for things I feel uncomfortable assuming [but may already "know"] as well as new info, how things work, what policies are in place, why are they in place, how could the policies be improved? Would a chamge in policy change something else or hurt some other area of operation, how resistant to change is the current staff? Would improvements improve things or add confusion and then need to be replaced by something even more efficiant later on? Ooooh. This may be why improvements are not done unless they potentially increase efficiancy by a significant amount, 30% I think I read in a text book, but an explanation was not given.

Not yet formed or known. " don't know what to expect." so it is harder to disappoint people. Satisfaction = expectations - Delivered performance. so if there are no expectations, the initial introduction should be satisfying. However, soon after the expectations must be maintained and exceeded to prevent/ slow/ compete with competitors that arise. They may be from an expanding unrelated company or a start up.

I asked the similarly aged person next to me, a stuent with a violin he had in front of him, if the person whose bio he was reading was playing because I didn't see her. I am becoming more shortsighted but I can make out enough to narrow this black haired violin player to two I saw, but neither was first chair... Well my assumption was that first chair was closest to the conductor. Then I realized that many, perhaps most or all of the instrumentalists had a bio in the playbill. Bad assumption on my part. In the past, I'd thought that only guests or the top performers got bios in the playbill. this is actually only based off of STL symphony, but since that has been my primary exposure, I make assumptions off that precidence. This is probably true for most infrequent .."things" be it type of products, performanses, experiences... like the circus. so, fist exposures to something new set
precidences. This can be good if starting a company with a new purpose or title as expectations are
